How to calculate the flooring area

Our Carpet, Linoleum and outdoor Astroturf are supplied in rolls with widths of between 0.91M to 5M (depending on the manufacturer) and by any length, eg; (0.91M to 5M X ??M).

Calculating a square area The amount of flooring required for a square or rectangular area can easily be measured by multiplying the longest width and longest length in Metres leaving you with an area in Square Metres to calculate the costs with. .. Calculating a round area The amount of flooring required for a round area can easily be measured by multiplying the longest linear width down the centre and longest linear height in metres along the centre leaving you with an area in square metres to calculate the costs with.

Calculating an L area The amount of flooring required for a 'L' shaped area can be measured by splitting the area into 2 rectangular sections, measuring them individually as square areas and then simply adding the totals together leaving you with an area in square metres to calculate the costs with. .. .. Calculating an unequal square area This example has the same calculation method as the square area except you must take the height along the centre of the area or straight edge instead of the angled edge.

Calculating a triangle area The amount of flooring required for a triangular area is the hardest to calculate so we would advise you to calculate the whole area as a square area and then divide in half. .. Calculating angled or uneven areas The amount of flooring required for an angled or oblong area should simply be taken from the longest linear width and longest linear length along the grain.
